Duke Energy EV Charger Store

Various pages set on mutliple devices from the Duke Energy EV charger online marketplace

Duke Energy approached me with a unique idea. They wanted to create a shop that would educate their constituents and encourage them to purchase a home electric vehicle charger. This site includes responsive shopping tools and encompasses everything from finding an electric vehicle to purchase to selecting a home charging station, getting an installation quote, and scheduling the installation.

Charger Product Page and Installation Quote

The product page was built to include content that would aid the customer to choose the right charger for them.

After they have made their decision and clicked the "Add to Cart" button the customer would answer a series of questions to determine the cost of installation.

After conducting focus group testing with a prototype for a similar project it was decided that using a step-by-step process including a progress bar, simple imagery, and showing one question at a time would be the most user-friendly approach for this modal.

a website modal that asks the user "do you own your home and is it freestanding? This modal features a progress bar and simple icon imagery of a house and a apartment building
a website modal that asks the user let's the user know they are done answering questions about their home

Shop by Charger Function

The client wanted something more visually impactful than a standard dropdown and search function. They also wanted to keep the current store launch timeline which meant this adding this feature could not go into heavy development. With keeping mobile users in mind I created a UI using the CMS's built-in product filtering tool. I kept the most popular vehicles towards the top of the page to reduce the need for extra clicks and scrolling for the majority of customers. With the use of simple HTML, I also added a "Select Your Make" link that would jump the page down to the vehicle models available for the customers' brand of vehicle.
