Franklin Energy All-In-One Home Project Marketplace

With the pandemic disrupting Franklin Energy's in-person energy efficiency programs, my creative team had to make a quick pivot to create a new revenue stream. Franklin Energy had some existing appliance rebate programs that needed to be updated. The company already saw success with the online marketplaces during the pandemic so the natural step was to combine the two programs creating something new for our clients.
Expanding Capabilities
After conducting some user interviews, we found that most customers fully trust their energy company to provide utility savings and other recommendations. Also, it was found that a lot of people struggle with large appliance purchases and installs.
It was decided to create an all-in-one store that can recommend the best appliance according to their home statistics and personal goals.


The All-In-One Experience
Beyond just recommending an appliance, we took it a step further with automatically applied rebates and tax credits, contractor installation scheduling, and financing. During the prototype testing, our focus groups described the usually daunting task of having to shop for, install, and pay for a large project like a water heater replacement as easy and can be done with just a few clicks.
All on the focus group members said they would likely purchase a whole project this way from their utility company
